Working biodynamically since 1998, this family-owned domaine has been run by Aurelie Fayolle and Arnaud Geschickt for the past 10 years. Found across 4 hectares in Ammerschwihr, the team work symbiotically with the environment, planting trees to increase ecological diversity and working the land with Iris, their mare. Le Schlouk 2023 is 80% Gewürztraminer with a schlouck of Riesling. Both grapes are macerated on the skins for 3 weeks in inox tanks before spending 6 months in large foudre. Being restaurant owners themselves, Aurelie and Arnaud envisioned this to be an approachable 'table wine' perfect for group dinners. This resonates - the wine is light and fresh with a great acidity. A touch of smokiness elevates juicy notes of fresh peach and mango. Le Schlouk 2023 would pair well with rich cheeses and fruit preserves.
